Board Foot

Definition of Board Foot:
Board foot is how hardwood is sold. A board foot refers to 144 square inches. To determine a board foot simply measure the length x width x thichness. EX. A 2" x 6" x 12" piece of stock is equal to 1 board foot. Alternatively a 1" x 6" x 24" piece of hardwood is also 1 board foot.
