Awls
Definition of Awls:
An awl is a sharp, pointed tool that is used for many applications. Most awls are made from hardened steel and have a wooden handle. The points and thickness of the shaft vary. Fine point awls are used for marking joinery while thicker ones are used to mark a point before drilling holes. The dimple makes a starter point for a drill bit to make a precise hole.
