| Growing to heights of
over 125 feet padauk trees can grow to a diameter of
4 feet or more. The heartwood from a padauk tree is
bright red but oxidizes after being cut to reveal
a purple-brown color. The sapwood is a whitish yellow
color.
Padauk has a course texture with straight grains that
machine well. Padauk takes glue fairly well and has
an average ability to hold nails and screws.
